Home Independence Planning Visit

If you are unsure what your home actually needs, start with a practical residential planning visit before committing to a major project.

Home Independence Planning Visit

We discuss how the home works today, what is becoming difficult, and which changes may provide the most value. We may review entrances, bathrooms, circulation, bedroom location, lighting, stairs, caregiver needs and ADU or multigenerational options.

If you proceed with a qualifying larger planning or design package within 30 days, the $395 fee can be credited toward that work.

FAQ

Common Questions

Do I need to know exactly what I want before contacting you?
No. Many homeowners know the problem but not the best construction solution. A sentence such as “My mother may move in with us,” “My shower is becoming difficult to use,” or “We're considering an ADU” is enough to start.
Is Home Independence Planning a medical assessment?
No. It is a residential planning and remodeling-feasibility service, not a medical or clinical assessment. When clinical expertise is appropriate, an occupational therapist or other qualified professional may be needed.
Are you a licensed architect or structural engineer?
No. I provide residential planning and drafting services within the scope allowed by California law. Licensed engineering or architectural services are provided by appropriately licensed professionals when required.
Are you currently a licensed general contractor?
Not yet. SacADU Drafting LLC currently provides planning, drafting and related residential services within its legal scope. Construction contracting and licensed trade work must be performed by appropriately licensed contractors where required.
How long does permit drafting take?
Many residential drawing packages can be prepared in approximately 2–3 weeks depending on project complexity and workload. Building-department review time is separate and varies by jurisdiction.
What if the building department requests corrections?
Plan-check comments within the agreed project scope can be incorporated into the drawing package. Major owner-requested changes or work outside the original scope may require an additional fee.
